Hi-Tech Pneumatic Fenders are air-filled floating fenders that operate at high pressures, making them a versatile solution for ship-to-ship operations. Hi-Tech is a pioneering developer of pneumatic fenders, having introduced the technology in 1992 and delivered thousands of fenders to customers worldwide.

Our fenders adhere to ISO 17357-1:2014, ensuring their quality and reliability. They come in standard internal pressures of 50kPa and 80kPa, though other pressures are available upon request. Commonly pneumatic fenders come as sling-type but Hi-Tech also offers bespoke harnessing to protect the fender from wear and tear. The fender body and harness can be customized to meet specific application requirements, including different body and harnessing such as black rubber harnessing and grey rubber compound harnessing for non-marking applications.

Features

  • Hi-Tech Pneumatic Fenders are widely used for ship-to-ship, remote berthing, inclined berthing, and naval operations.
  • Compared to other fender types, pneumatic fenders have a much lower reaction to both the ship and the jetty structure.
  • Pneumatic fenders can adapt to high tide variations.
  • They exert low mooring forces even in tough weather conditions.
  • In most cases, pneumatic fenders are the most cost-effective solution available.
  • Pneumatic fenders are quick and easy to deploy, making them a practical choice for a wide range of applications.

Applications

  • Oil and Gas Tankers
  • Fast Ferries and Aluminium Vessels
  • Temporary and Permanent Installations
  • Rapid Response and Emergency
  • Used in naval establishments

PNEUMATIC FENDERS (HPF)

TYPES OF FENDERS

ISO 17357-1:2014 recognizes two fundamental types of Pneumatic Fenders: Type I (net type) and Type II (sling type). The selection of the most suitable type for a specific application depends on the intended use of the fender and the requirements of the facility in question.

TYPE I: CHAIN-TIRE-NET (CTN) TYPE

STANDARD CHAIN NET (HPF-SCN)

FEATURES & ADVANTAGES

  • Low carbon footprint (made from used tires)
  • Simple and fast to install
  • Provide good life against abrasion
  • Prevent the Ship’s hull from damage
  • The rugged body protects the fender against cutting/puncturing from sharp objects

AIRCRAFT TYRE CHAIN NET (HPF-ACN)

FEATURES & ADVANTAGES

  • Heavy-duty and larger aircraft tires are used instead of standard tires
  • Longer service life in comparison to standard chain net
  • Lower maintenance cost

APPLICATIONS:

  • Used in Ship-to-Ship Transfers
  • Used as a solution for temporary and/or emergency fendering system installations
  • Used for tankers, gas carriers, bulk cargo ships, fast ferries & other aluminum hull vessels

GREY BODY GREY HARNESSING (HPF-GBGH)

FEATURES & ADVANTAGES

  • Pneumatic Fenders with grey bodies and grey harnessing are commonly utilized in scenarios where ships require absolute non-marking fenders, as they minimize the risk of staining or marking the ship’s hull during contact. This approach saves the cost of painting the ship’s hull and offers an effective solution to avoid frequent and costly repainting of ship’s hull.

APPLICATIONS:

  • Especially useful for naval ships and cruise terminals

GREY HARNESSING(HPF-GH)

FEATURES & ADVANTAGES

  • Special chain net harnessing with non-marking grey/white tires & grey/white sleeves
  • Pneumatic Fenders with grey bodies and grey harnessing are commonly utilized in scenarios where ships require absolute non-marking fenders, as they minimize the risk of staining or marking the ship’s hull during contact

APPLICATIONS:

  • Especially useful for naval ships and cruise terminals
  • Use in non-marking Ship-to-Ship Transfers

PNEUMATIC FENDERS (HPF)

TYPES OF FENDERS

TYPE II: SLING OR HOOK TYPE

SLING-TYPE (HPF-SB)

FEATURES & ADVANTAGES

  • Sling-type Pneumatic Fenders lack harnessing and, as a result, are equipped with a thick outer layer of rubber to enhance abrasion resistance and increase lifespan.
  • This design feature ensures that no steel chains come into contact with the ship or the jetty, thereby minimizing the risk of damage during berthing.
  • Sling-type fenders offer quick installation and require minimal maintenance. Additionally, they are suitable for use in areas with both small and large tidal ranges and can maintain large clearances between the hull and structure.
  • Applications:
    • Sling-type Pneumatic Fenders are widely used in naval and cruise applications.
    • They are well-suited for passenger vessels.
    • Sling-type fenders are an excellent choice for vessels with sensitive hull structures.

SLING-TYPE GREY BODY (HPF-SG)

FEATURES & ADVANTAGES

  • Grey sling-type fenders have all the features of the regular sling-type fenders
  • Grey outer layer of rubber is used in non-marking application
  • HPF-SG is available in white/grey color
  • Faster installation and very low maintenance

APPLICATIONS:

  • HPF-SG is most widely used for naval applications (non-marking applications)
  • Passenger vessels and applications where abrasion due to the harnessing is not acceptable
