Heritage

Hitech Elastomers Ltd., incorporated in 1992 by its visionary founder Shri Vinod Ambalal Soni, has been a pioneering force in the marine and offshore industry. Shri Vinod Soni’s vision of indigenization and self-reliance aligned with the “Make in India” initiative promoted by the current Prime Minister’s vision. With the aim of eliminating foreign dependency and establishing a state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing facility for rubber and steel products used in marine and offshore operations, he started Hitech elastomers with a very humble beginning.

In the late 1980s, Shri Vinod Soni was faced with the challenging task of developing pneumatic/solid fenders in India, as the country was dependent on foreign vendors at that time. However, with his polymer and engineering expertise, he became the first Indian to pioneer rubber fenders that were fully made in India and of the same, if not better, quality as those available in the global market. This marked a significant milestone in the establishment of Hitech Elastomers in 1992, with a primary focus on providing high-performance and world-class quality rubber fenders and offshore installation and protection aids not only to India but also to the rest of the world.

Under the leadership of Shri Vinod Soni, Hitech Elastomers flourished and soon became one of the largest players in the global rubber fenders market. In 1990, Shri Rupen Vinod Soni, the current Chairman, and CEO joined his father in the pursuit of making Hitech Elastomers a world leader in the marine and offshore segment, furthering Shri Vinod Soni’s visionary dream.

The founders’ unwavering commitment to indigenization, high-quality products, and passion for the industry has been the driving force behind Hitech Elastomers’ success. The company’s remarkable journey is a testament to the potential and capabilities of Indian companies in contributing to the growth of this sector and making a mark in the global market.

HI-TECH TIMELINE

In 1992, Hitech Elastomers started with a manufacturing facility in Rakhial, Ahmedabad, with a working area of 600 square feet and a strength of 25 dedicated team members.

In 1993, Hitech elastomers manufactured the first “MADE IN INDIA” pneumatic fender and, since then, has supplied thousands of fenders around the world.

In 1999, Hitech manufactured the largest fender in the world with a 4.5-meter diameter, which is also the first in India and only the second company in the world to achieve this.

In 2001, Hitech expanded to a larger 10,000 sq. yard manufacturing facility with the world’s largest testing press, measuring 5 meters. by 8 meters. by 13 meters., and now can test the largest fenders in the world on full scale. This was never heard of in the world of fenders before.

In 2002, Hitech ventured into the offshore industry. Having developed extensive critical offshore protection and installation aid products, Hitech has become one of the market leaders in the offshore segment.

In 2005, Hitech developed steel navigational buoys for the first time in India. This embarks Hitech on a new business line of aids to navigation and becomes a member of IALA in 2009, which is a first for an Indian company.

In 2010, Hitech expands to a 55,000-square-foot facility in Santej, Gandhinagar, with 350 personnel staff and 70 members in operation and management. This unit-II has state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities for all and any kind and size of fenders, buoys, offshore products, etc. A new and modern rubber testing laboratory has been installed to assure the quality of rubber in all our products.

In 2011, Hitech spread its wings to the development and manufacturing of polyethylene buoys in India for the first time.

In 2017, Hitech’s vision of all marine solutions under one umbrella came true with the development of quick-release hooks, capstans, and berthing aid solutions, which is again a first in India. Hitech has equipped its facility with one of the most advanced machineries for manufacturing and testing quick-release hooks. Hitech today is one of the very few companies in the world with the technical know-how in integrated remote monitoring, SCADA-based solutions, and berthing aid solutions.

Today, with a unique blend of experience, modern thinking, technical expertise, and dedication spanning more than 30 years, Hitech has a footprint in almost 100 countries, is approved by all international and Indian certification agencies, is reputed in all international consulting agencies, is preferred by all EPC contactors, and is privileged to be the market mover and pioneer in the marine and offshore industries.
